Flaine is a “doorstep skiing resort” with an easily navigable car-free centre. Wherever you’re staying, you’ll never be far away from the shops and ski slopes. Even if your accommodation is located outside the resort centre, you’ll only have to travel a few hundred metres (by free shuttlebus).
The hamlet of Flaine is located a little way outside of the resort, but a regular, free-of-charge shuttlebus connects it to the resort centre (15 minute journey).
The ski school meeting places are located at two different levels of the resort: Flaine Forêt and Flaine Forum.

Flaine and the Grand Massif’s snowfall allows for an extended winter season and guarantees excellent quality snow throughout the season.
Snow canons complete the snow cover on the lower part of the ski area guaranteeing maximum “Skiability” throughout the season.

The resort is open from the 16^th of December 2023 to the 21^st of April 2024.

The resort centre is situated at 1,600 metres, the hamlet of Flaine is at 1,800 metres and the slope summit is at 2,500 metres in altitude.

The P'tits Loups Nursery welcomes children from 6 months to 3 years (mandatory booking).
The Pierre & Vacances tourist residence Les Terrasses d'Hélios and the Hôtel Club MMV Le Flaine also have childcare facilities for their customers. Children's ski clubs cater for children aged 3 to 11, with half-day or full-day packages including fun ski lessons.

Flaine has runs specially dedicated to beginners, as well as 4 free ski lifts (Le Pré magic carpet, Michalet magic carpet, Bissac magic carpet and Flaine Forum open-cabin gondola lift).
Once you’ve gained a bit of confidence, you can also explore other runs thanks to preferential rates on ski passes.

Skiing requires a bit of instruction to get started and trying to do it alone can be dangerous. The resort’s ski schools offer skiing and snowboarding lessons for all abilities, and have a great deal of experience teaching beginners.

You can hire skis, poles, snowboards and boots in one of the resort’s many specialist shops.

Le Col de Pierre Carrée, at an altitude of 1,844 metres, offers the highest and most snow-covered Nordic skiing area in the Alps. It has uninterrupted views over the Préalpes and Arve Valley. 2.5 kilometres of “skate” and “classic” tracks are available to everyone, as well as 2.5 kilometres of well-maintained, signposted pedestrian circuits. Access to the ski area is free by ski bus from the resort centre. For real aficionados, the Agy site offers 30 kilometres of additional runs just 30 minutes from Flaine.

The Grandes Platières cable car provides pedestrian access to the top of the Grandes Platières and exceptional panoramic views over the larger Alpine mountain ranges, particularly Mont Blanc.

Taxis and public transport companies are available throughout the winter season between Geneva airport and Flaine.

As soon as the first snow falls, Carroz and Flaine’s technical services, as well as those of the local council, begin clearing the roads. They guarantee acceptable driving conditions between 6am and 9pm, even if the roads aren’t always completely dry. You are advised to always equip your vehicle with specialist weatherproof equipment (snow chains).

Flaine was designed to be user-friendly. You can drive around the resort and park outside your apartment for a maximum of 1hr 30mins in order to pack and unpack your luggage. Then, simply take your car to one of the car parks outside the resort.

Car parks situated at the entrance to the resort are available (fee charges are apply). There is a car park on every level of Flaine (Forêt, Forum and Front de Neige), so your car will never be far from your accommodation.

A free-car park is also available at Le Col de Pierre Carrée.

Flaine’s resort centre is located at an altitude of 1,600 metres. Its ski area culminates at 2,500 metres. In the summer, it’s generally the ideal temperature for enjoying all of our activities and entertainment during the daytime. After the sun goes down, the evenings are cooler, so you’re advised to bring a jacket or fleece. It is not impossible that during your holidays in the mountains, you will encounter rain. That said, it's not an end in itself, because even in Flaine, it is possible to find indoor occupations.

Dogs must be kept on a lead as walking routes are predominantly through mountain pastures which are home to farm animals (cows, sheep,…), and often protected by guard dogs known as Patous, so watch out! You may also come across chamois and ibexes during your walk.
Please note that you are not allowed to walk your dog on the Nature Reserve.

The Flaine Summer Pass is available free-of-charge when you arrive at your accommodation, if the provider participates in the scheme. If your accommodation provider is not part of the scheme, you can obtain a pass from the Tourist Office in accordance with the current price conditions.

The 4-star Le Centaure Residence’s Aquatic Centre is open to all of the resort’s guests during the summer. 2,000m² dedicated to well-being! An aqua area with a 25-metre swimming pool and a children’s pool with a waterslide ans water jets, sauna, steam room, whirlpool baths… and also beauty treatments and massages.

All the car-parks are free during the summer. You can park on any carpark, there is no height limit. There are no water and power supplies and no chemical toilet emptying.

Les lacs de montagne sont des lacs de pêche, la baignade y est donc interdite.

You will find a non-exhaustive list of the nearest swimmable lakes: Lac Bleu in Morillon, Lac des Îlettes in Sallanches, Lac de Passy facing Mont Blanc, Lac d'Annecy or Lac Léman.

The three nearest fishing lakes are Flaine lake, Vernant lake and Airon lake.

There is no alpine farm in the Flaine resort.
