In summer, you will be able to walk with your 4-legged friend on many hiking trails!
Here is a list of hikes in Flaine that you can do with your pet:
All information about our hikes is available on our page hiking itineraries.
We also invite you to download the free app, "Flaine Les Carroz Outdoor", available on: App Store & Google Play.
Thank to this app, you will be able to check if your hiking route passes near a grazing herd. Indeed, who says mountain, says alpine pastures, says herds! It is not uncommon to pass close to sheep or cows, guarded by herding dogs, Patous (Great Pyrenees) and Anatolian Shepherds. It is best when you have a dog to avoid or bypass grazing areas.
Please note that the herds are on the move, it is not impossible to cross some when you do not expect it.
This is why it is very important that your dog is systematically kept on a leash, because even far from a herd, you risk encountering wild animals such as ibexes, chamois and marmots. Keep an eye on the Vigilance Zones via our free hiking app (video tutorial of how to use the app).
On the other hand, you will not be able to walk near the national nature reserve of Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval/Passy, because the latter is subject to very specific regulations. Therefore, you will also be prohibited from taking the Grandes Platières cable car (DMC) with your dog, as this gondola leads directly to the entrance to the Nature Reserve.
