European Ski Mountaineering Championships

From Saturday 6 January 2024 to Saturday 13 January 2024

From January 6th to 12th, in collaboration with the FFME (Fédération Française Montagne Escalade) and the 27th Battalion of Alpine Chasseurs,
Flaine will be hosting the European ski mountaineering championships.

1 week, 4 races, 4 atmospheres:
The ski mountaineering events are as varied as the discipline itself: speed, endurance, strength, strategy... The athletes are complete !

Sunday 7th January
Opening Ceremony: 5 p.m. - Flaine Forum 
Come and watch the opening ceremony of the European Ski Mountaineering Championships.


Monday 8th January
Individual race: 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Flaine |  top of Aup de Véran cable car area

The historic race, the DNA of ski-mountaineering, off the slopes for 1h30. Make way for the adventure playground!
And to win, you need all-round ability: stamina, technique, not forgetting the ability to descend.

  • 12:40 pm Start U20 Women.
  • 12:50 pm Start U18 Women.
  • 13:30 pm Start U20 Men.
  • 13:40 pm Start Senior Women.
  • 14:45 pm Start Senior Men.

Food Market with local products at the top of lift number 1.
Medal ceremony at l'UCPA Les Lindars Flaine Forum: 6 p.m 
Welcome drink: 5:30 p.m.
Activities and entertainnment week's introduction.
Mulled wine and hot apple juice offered by our partner Sherpa.
Meeting point at Flaine Forum in front of the Tourist Office.
Man prizes to win in our big free raffle.


Tuesday 9th January
Athletes rest
Flaine heritage guided tour - 2:00 p.m. 
Comented by Art Center director, free registration before Tuesday 11.30 am at the art Center.

Bubblefoot: 3:30 p.m. | Flaine Forum
Make up your team, put on a giant plastic bubble and leave no chance of winning the game. No holds barred!
Free registrations on site in front of the Tourism Office.


Wednesday 10th January
Sprint - 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - Michet / Pente à Jules  Area
The shortest race, a concentrate of ski-mountaineering! A very intense 3min30: sliding, handling, portage, conversions, descent... in the heart of the resort.
A spectacular event where the public can watch the entire race.

Thursday 11th January
Vertical race - 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Flaine

A fantastic race, a pure climb, straight up the slope.
The fastest, most powerful skier, but also the one who can execute the purest gesture, will emerge victorious at the summit.
Departure from Forum arrived Tête des Verds.

  • 9:40 am Start U18 Women.
  • 10:10 am Start U20 Men.
  • 10:30 am Start U20 Women.
  • 11:00 am Start Senior/U23 Women.

Friday 12th January
Mixed relay - 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. - Chamonix
In mixed teams of 2, each team completes the loop twice!
The handover to a teammate is often an opportunity to reshuffle the cards, and each competitor can make or break his team...
Reflections " Supporting performance" - 2 p.m.
Medal ceremony - 7:30 p.m.
